    • This is due to the cluster source condition being optimized for the formation of Met-Cars as described in Ref. 1. Under this cluster source condition, other species are present but at concentrations significantly lower than that of the Met-Cars as established by working under conditions of higher photon energy. These other species are not seen in the mass spectra of Fig. 1 because their IPs are higher than the ionization photon energy employed in obtaining the data presented.

    • Although their values are not reported in this paper, the ablation laser power was monitored during the experiments to verify the ablation condition was maintained to be constant

    • For this discussion, it is assumed that the adiabatic IPs well approximate the measured (vertical) IPs as expected for the systems of low ionization potential/free electron behavior being considered in this paper

    • +. The same discussion is valid for dissociation of complexes with more than n ligands to form a complex with n ligands upon ionization.
