14. The particles are available from Kromachem Ltd., UK, as Pferrox 2228. The detergent used as a surfactant was the "Joy" brand marketed by Procter and Gamble. After sonification this mixture would remain in suspension for approximately 5 mins, which was sufficient time to dip a bacterial thread.
