17. There are two distinctive versions. In one version, the theory is formulated, on the basis of the assumption that nonequilibrium entropy exists, by approximately treating the kinetic equation, whereas in the other version the thermodynamic laws are explicitly made use of and the kinetic equation is given a formal but exact treatment. The first category of versions includes Ref. 13 and Ref. 14 and the second category can be found in Ref. 15 below.
