34. 2 (150 mg) was added in three portions to a refluxing solution of 15 (50 mg, 0.15 mmol) in dry benzene (3 ml) at one hour intervals. The mixture was heated under reflux for two more hours,and then filtered through celite. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to leave a viscous mass. Purification by chromatography on silica gel using ethyl acetate as eluent gave 16 (21 mg, 40%) as a colourless solid.
