    • The spin-density-wave ground-state gap in (Formula presented) is often refered to as a charge gap. It is a single-particle excitation gap. The spectral weight for the spin-spin correlation function has no gap because of the Goldstone modes. The spectral weight for the charge-charge correlation function is more complicated. When the spin order is collinear, there is a gap to charge excitations, but when the order is spiral there can be no gap in the charge excitations (even though the system is an insulator for dc current and there is a gap to single-particle excitations). In fact, in this case, for any wave vector other than zero the collective modes are a mixture of spin and charge excitations. See R. Côté and A.-M. S. Tremblay, Europhys. Lett. 29, 37 (1995).
