    • The Lewis acidity of the palladium center is expected to parallel the Pauling electronegativity of the bound halide ligand, which increases in the order I (2.66) < Br (2.96) < Cl (3.16) (Allred, A. J. Inorg. Nucl. Chem. 1961, 17, 215). However, the enhanced Lewis acidity of palladium should increase the strength of the dative Pd-N bond and the dative Pd-(μ-halogen) bond to a similar degree and therefore have no net effect on K.
