    • The radius of the curvature of the probe tip used was several tens of nanometers. As seen in Figure 7a, wide ditches (dark regions) compared to the size of the tip are observed occasionally. Thus, the height measurement of the islands is concluded to be conducted accurately since the results imply that the tip reaches the mica surface.
