Two peristaltic pumps were applied to prepare the mixed feedstream. One of them was pumping a pure 0.1 M KOH (or HCl) solution, while the other was pumping a mixture (concentrations: 0.1 M base or acid, and 0.1 M KCl in the mixture) with a variable rate.
