28. Syntheses with Au:dodecanethiol ratios of 1:16 and 1:20 were found to produce unstable materials which irreversibly aggregate in solution. Materials from a preparation with a Au:butanethiol ratio of 1:12 were also found to consist of cluster aggregates.
