15. This relationship is violated by the results of A. Antonelli and J. Bernholc, Mater. Res. Soc. Symp. Proc. 163, 523 (1990), who calculated the effects of both hydrostatic compression and biaxial strain on defect formation energies. They permitted a symmetric radial relaxation of the nearest neighbors in the former calculation and they did not relax any atomic coordinates in this latter calculation. A consistent set of calculations must obey the thermodynamic relationships presented here.
