24. All samples prepared as KBr pellets exhibit an artifact signal at ∼0.16 eV, possibly arising from aggregation of the dots and/or from interaction with the KBr matrix. The magnitude of this artifact signal is less than one-fourth of the actual intraband absorption except for dilute samples in which case the magnitude of the artifact can be comparable to the intraband absorption. This artifact was removed by subtracting a Gaussian of fixed position and line width (0.16 and 0.055 eV. respectively). No such artifacts are seen with samples dispersed in chloroform.
