For excitation the frequency-doubled output of a regeneratively amplified mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser (λ = 400 nm) was focused to a circular spot of ∼ 140-μm diameter. The light emitted by the sample was collected in a setup with a numerical aperture of N.A. = 0.26, diffused and subsequently focused onto the entrance slit of a monochromator/CCD-detector unit
