    • The use of the self-consistent RPA form for the polarizability, (Formula presented) has been shown to give a metalliclike polarizability. This effect, due to the self-consistency, is however compensated by the introduction of vertex corrections beyond the RPA [R.T.M. Ummels, P.A. Bobbert, and W. van Haeringen, Phys. Rev. B 57, 11 962 (1998)], so that the true polarizability does not have this shortcoming. We do not include vertex corrections, but we get the correct q dependence (Formula presented) of the polarizability since the mutual orthogonality between filled and empty bands is preserved in our calculation.
