A dynamic method for characterization of adsorptive properties of solid catalysts was named "adsorption-rate spectrum" [L. Polinski and L. Naphtali, Adv. Catal., 19, 241 (1969)]. Relaxation techniques such as acoustic wave and alternating electric field was suggested by Eigen to be named "relaxation spectroscopy".4 The present method based on δJ may be named "reaction-rate spectroscopy", because the novel method would play an important role in modern thermodynamics.
