The increase in saturation in an cloud parcel in response to a temperature modulation has been evaluated as a function of temperature, ice particle size, and ice particle number density (27). The increases are small (5% or less) for the cloud and contrail conditions associated with the data in Fig. 1. Similarly, radiative heating rates are not expected to be important for the analysis of contrail cloud parcels reported here (28).
