A. Gonzalez Quintana directed a workshop on the archives of the Spanish Civil War 1991-93, was director of the UNESCO-ICA project on the 'Management of the State Security Archives of the Former Repressive Regimes' in 1994-95 and is now a Professor of Archival Science at the Academy of Logistics (Spanish Army).

P. Valdez was the director of the Truth Commission for El Salvador in 1992, participated in the founding of Peru's National Coordination of Human Rights, was a founding member of the International Coalition of Historic Site Museums of Conscience and is a consultant on human rights issues. She is currently the Director of Memoria Abierta, an alliance of eight Argentinean human rights organisations dedicated to preserving the historical documentary heritage of the period of state terrorism in Argentina.
