1. The author became chairman of the State Property Fund of Ukraine soon after Kuchma's election and remained at that post until February 1997. Currently, he is a deputy in Parliament and deputy chairman of its Committee on Economic Policy. Volodymyr Lanovyi succeeded as acting chairman of the State Property Fund from March 1997 until the spring of 1998, but he was never approved by Parliament and thus lacked full legal powers. In the fall of 1998, Oleksandr Bondar, previously Yekhanurov's first deputy, became chairman of the State Property Fund.
