23. Ellis (1993). Although focusing only on farming households, this is a good book for gaining an economic understanding of other actors, too, because it does not narrow down human decision-making to profit-seeking alone
24. Blaikie (1985). Following a relaxed kind of action-incontext approach, this gives good insights into the linkages between the decisions of actors and the surrounding society
25. De Groot (1992). The general reference of this chapter, but also provides material on interdisciplinarity, problemoriented modelling and environmental philosophy
26. Costanza (1991). An inspiring compilation resulting from the need to build up an environmentally conscious discipline of economics
27. Tjallingii (1996). Although the applications focus on the relatively narrow field of suburban planning, this book gives many noteworthy general design principles
