18. In fact, cylindrical gravitational waves were found more than ten years before Einstein and Rosen by Guido Beck, Z. Phys. 33, 713 (1925). Beck was mainly interested in time-independent axisymmetric fields but he realized that through changes (Formula presented) one obtains cylindrical waves.
