    • In this special case, besides 2a, 3a a dimer of 1a was obtained in 22% yield, which was shown not to have a cyclobutanedione structure and which was produced via a Brønsted acid‐catalyzed way. Due to rapid decompositon of this dimer of 1a, attempts to isolate it failed.
