    • Adaptive developmental plasticity: what is it, how can we recognize it and when can it evolve?
    • This review underscores the distinction between adaptive plasticity that is a result of the effects of early experience on an individual's information state, and adaptive plasticity that is a result of lasting effects of early experience on an individual's somatic state. It suggests ways for empiricists to design experiments to untangle these potential effects of early experience on trait values later in life.

    • This article reviews recent models that are based on the assumption that positive or negative feedbacks between an individual's information or somatic state affect the developmental trajectory of its scores for personality traits. It specifies some of the conditions that might encourage the developmental trajectories of different individuals to converge or diverge from one another early in life.

    • Quantifying the predictability of behaviour: statistical approaches for the study of between-individual variation in the within-individual variance
    • Presents doubly hierarchical models which provide an integrated way to analyze fixed effects, individual differences in among-individual variances and individual differences in residual variance. In experiments which carefully control for variation in context, these models can provide estimates of individual differences in intraindividual variability.
