Both studies were funded by the British Library Research and Development Department. The full report including the 1995 results will be published in due course as: “Modernizing research libraries: the effect of recent developments in university libraries on the research process”, Bowker-Saur, Sevenoaks, publication date to be announced.
2. The Open University was excluded from both the 1989 and 1995 studies/Buckingham University was excluded in 1989, but included in 1995.
