There are numerous accounts of Ravenscroft's early experimentation. One is: Hartshorne, A., ‘Antique Drinking Glasses’, Brussel and Brussel, New York, 1968, pp.240-241. The term ‘crizzle’ was applied to glasses as early as Ravenscroft's time.
