Data were gathered from parents through telephone interviews when families had moved. Because there was no direct contact with the child in these cases, these data are not reported in this article. Telephone interviews were held with two single-parent families, 11 transracial families, and two traditional families; losses from the traditional group have been greatest mainly because of the parents’ wish either not to have their families “singled out” or not to disclose the facts of adoption to their children
