    • The use of high quality methanol (HPLC) is strongly recommended for the synthesis of 2. The success of the preparation of 2 is strongly dependent on the quality of the methanol used since the presence of small amounts of water, reduces considerably the yield of the synthesis and produces the formation of large amounts of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde due to the hydrolysis of the ligand.
