    • In the early development of QD-converted white LEDs (2001-2004), we mixed CdSe/ZnSe and CdSe/ZnS QDs with various resins, including epoxy, PMMA, and silicone, and coated the hybrid on SMD InGaN chips. It was found that the PMMA-encapsulated QDs exhibited higher efficiency; however, the QDs decayed ∼70% in 24 h in the standard industrial LED test. Without an Ar environment, the decay was 90% in 3 h. Silicone showed a better result for protecting QDs but they still decayed more than 50% in 24 h
