29. The plot in Figure 3d represents the difference between a control spectrum recorded with no irradiation and a spectrum obtained with presaturation of the water peak region at 4.8 ppm. If no NOE or saturation transfer occurs, the intensity of a given peak before and after irradiation will be approximately the same. In this case the subtraction process will eliminate the peak from the difference spectra (at least within the error of the method). If, however, magnetization transfer occurs a peak will be obtained.
