1. Traditions dealing with the nat come from different sources. Although biographies of a number of nat are found in the Burmese royal chronicles, different stories are told or depicted in rituals, either through local traditions or by spirit mediums. Concerning the Taungbyon Brothers, the summary presented here combines what is usually told by devotees and what is related in the Glass Palace Chronicle (Luce and Pe Maung Tin 1956:83-84).
