    • Newtons cradle is a device used to illustrate conservation of momentum and energy. It consists of a series of equal pendulums in a row, and a swinging motion is induced by the release of a sphere pulled away at one extremity. Collision with a second sphere sends the momentum through the series of spheres, causing the opposite swinging motion of a sphere at the other extremity of the device. Swinging back and collision with the series of resting spheres leads to the reverse swinging motion of the first sphere.
