The succession of name and organizational changes reveals the conceptual and factional shifts within and between these fields and at the RF. In 1955 the Division of Medicine and Public Health once again split into the Division of Medical Education and Public Health and the Division of Biological and Medical Research. In 1959 the two joined again to become the Division of Medical and Natural Sciences and then the Division of Biomedical Sciences in 1970.
