4. Although interactions among distributed components map onto interactions that actually take place at the middleware level, they are elicited at a different abstraction level and thus considered a different category in our classification

Entity beans are J2EE components that represent persistent data within an application. Each database table is generally associated with an entity bean. The data in the entity bean are synchronized with the database. Thus, entity bean are often used as the interface between J2EE applications and databases
