Note that in what has been billed as a world first carbon trade for an energy company, Macquarie Generation, based in NSW, has sold the equivalent of 2,000 tonnes of C02 savings to two Japanese firms, Chubu Electric Power Co and Tomen Corp. The C02 savings are created by Macquarie's wood waste co-firing program. It is believed that the price per tonne of carbon was in the range of US$2-US$3. The wood waste would normally have gone into landfills.
