16. - International Peat Society (IPS). An international, nongovernmental organization with a membership drawn from scientific, industrial and regulatory stakeholders. As it says on the site, the IPS 'is dedicated to fostering the advancement, exchange and communication of scientific, technical and social knowledge and understanding for the wise use of peatlands and peat.' It holds workshops and symposia as well as publishing reports and the free Mires and Peat journal (with IMCG). http://www.peatsociety.org/.
17. - PEAT-PORTAL. Funded by the Global Environment Centre, Wetlands International and the UNEP-GEF, this site provides some excellent information and also interactive discussions on peatlands. The site has a strongly international outlook and is especially good on tropical peatlands and up to date news issues concerning peatlands. http://www.peat-portal.net/ev_en.php.
18. - Irish Peatlands Conservation Council IPCC. Although a national level organization, this is one of the longest established organizations with extensive information and links. It is a charitable organization, focusing on conservation of peatlands in Ireland. http://www.ipcc.ie/.
