1. The members of the MMIA Certification Committee are: Jane Kontrimas, Chair, Eduardo Berinstein, Julie Burns, Frank Geoffrion and Maria-Paz Beltran Avery. The Certification Committee works on a purely volunteer basis.
2. The National Council on Interpretation in Health Care (NCIHC) was formed in the United States in 1998. NCIHC developed during a series of working conferences that brought together health care interpreters, coordinators of interpreter services, health care providers, educators, trainers and researchers to discuss key issues in the field.
