    • To a mixture of powdered potassium hydroxide (4 mmol) in dimethylsulphoxide (5-7 ml) was added the appropriate alkyl/aryl and sulphonyl halides (1.2 mmol) and indole (1 mmol) with stirring at room temperature. The reaction was monitored by TLC. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and concentrated in vacuo to get the crude product. The crude product was purified by column chromatography To a mixture of N-propargyl derivative of indole (1 mmol) and CuI (10 mol%) in PEG-400 (5-7 ml) was added benzyl azide (1.2 mmol) with stirring at room temperature. The reaction was monitored by TLC. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate.
