Science and the farmer: The development of the agricultural advisory service in england and wales, 1900-39
-
NAAS replaced the pre-war patchwork of county and university advisory services. It also incorporated experimental farms and demonstration plots for research, development and dissemination purposes. Its advisers were educated to degree or diploma level. By the early 1960s, they served around 60 per cent of farmers with more than 16 acres of land. More research is needed on the content of their advice, and on the development of the science that underpinned it. C.
