1. This is often done by operators prior to initiating a message, to check that they are within repeater range and that the equipment and system are functional.
2. Since the time of our measurements, the time-out has been dropped to roughly seven seconds. Care must be exercised in such reductions lest the intra-message gaps due to early time-outs become annoying.
3. This time-out period is actually adjustable to any value in the range (0, 6) seconds, but on the system monitored for this report, a one-second value was used.
4. A new user is served after all current users are served, and hence, the waiting time for the first access is greater than calcuted using 6.1 seconds holding etc.
