This longitudinal study of 298 older women drawn from the community found that women with SDB had a nearly twofold increased risk of developing either mild cognitive impairment or dementia over a 5-year follow-up period. Furthermore, within women with SDB, measures of hypoxemia, but not sleep fragmentation or sleep duration, were associated with mild cognitive impairment or dementia risk.
