Patients had congenital hip disease, and the average lesion size was 4.8 cm2. Final follow-up clinical results were good and CT arthrogram confirmed excellent graft incorporation.

This case report details the use of either an acetabular or medial tibial plateau allograft for the treatment of acetabular chondral defects. The authors state that the medial tibial plateau appeared to have healthier cartilage and better approximated the surface of the acetabulum.

25. Stafford GH, Bunn JR, Villar RN. Arthroscopic repair of delaminated acetabular articular cartilage using fibrin adhesive. Results at one to three years. Hip Int. 2011;21:744-50. The authors report the results in 43 patients of a microfracture technique with cartilage repair using fibrin glue. This is the largest study that evaluates repair of the delaminated cartilage in the anterosuperior dome. The mid-term results are very encourage for this technique.

This study reports the results in 4 patients of a synthetic plug to treat acetabular cystic defects. However, the interesting aspect of this report is the approach used to reach the acetabulum. The authors used an antegrade access channel through the ilium. They were able to place the graft flush with the acetabular cartilage.
