    • The conjugate gradient (CG) energy minimization technique relies on numerous evaluations of the total potential energy to identify local minima. However, when we integrate Newton's equations of motion with damping forces proportional to particle velocities [Eqs. and ], energy minimization is achieved by the evaluation of forces and torques, which allows increased accuracy compared to the CG technique.
