    • It was found that with time the photoreceptors migrate tangentially to close the macular hole defect by reapproximating the two ends, and if the alignment was appropriate, the inner segment/outer segment junction may reappear. Improvement in vision was also seen to accompany restoration of the inner segment/outer segment junction
