    • This transmetalation was assumed to involve the formation of radicals, see:, P. Knochel, Synlett 1995, 393-403. This was indirectly confirmed by ESR experiments performed in the presence of 3, diethylzinc, CuI, and TTBNB. The same spectrum as in Figure 1 was observed for these reactions.
