    • IBM's retail consumer study surveyed over 30,000 consumers in 13 countries. The study showed that between 78 percent and 84 percent of consumers rely on their social networks when searching for new products, irrespective of what those products are. Forty-five percent turn to friends and relatives and some 37 percent turn to other external sources for product advice.
