[Epub ahead of print] A retrospective case-control study following 24 846 eyes that underwent cataract surgery between 2001 and 2003 in Singapore to determine rates of pseudophakic RRD. Overall, the authors found 0.16% of studied eyes had a RRD following cataract surgery and identified risk factors for pseudophakic retinal detachment, including PCR during surgery, male sex, and young age.

This is a prospective cohort study of 9388 eyes undergoing cataract extraction in Taiwan that found a cumulative 8-year risk of pseudophakic retinal detachment of 2.31%. Significant risk factors for retinal detachment included a history of retinal detachment in the fellow eye, increased axial length, male sex, and younger age.
