    • The KLE belongs to a family of so-called vorticity-velocity methods (see [12]). It is based on a space-time splitting of the problem that solves the time evolution of the vorticity as an ordinary differential equation on each node of the spatial discretization, using at each time step the spatial solution for the velocity field provided by a Poisson equation.
