    • Note - infancy is defined as the first year of life. For purposes of this article we will use newborn to refer to infants in the first 30 days of life. When we are discussing infants without comparing them to newborns, then we are referring to patients from 0 through 365 days of life. When newborns are contrasted with infants, then infants will refer to those patients from 31 through 365 days of life
    • Note - infancy is defined as the first year of life. For purposes of this article we will use newborn to refer to infants in the first 30 days of life. When we are discussing infants without comparing them to newborns, then we are referring to patients from 0 through 365 days of life. When newborns are contrasted with infants, then infants will refer to those patients from 31 through 365 days of life.
