19. Some 35 years ago I was responsible for the " methodology" section for the Europe plus 30 Project led by Lord Kennett under the auspices of Commissioner Darendorf. (Kennett, Wayland. The Futures of Europe.) This might fairly be counted as the first Foresight project undertaken by the EU (then EEC). This project was undertaken by representatives of all EEC countries advocating a variety of prospective, technology assessment, and systems approaches. It is probably fair to say that it has left few traces, except perhaps some coordination of European R&D.
