Eur Urol 2010;58:293-298. A further recent population series describing better survival and lower cardiovascular death with partial nephrectomy compared with radical nephrectomy. Close inspection of groups highlights a major flaw of population and institutional nonrandomized studies such as this on this topic-the radical nephrectomy goup is 6 years older than the partial nephrectomy. This independent confounder is present in similar series-a surely major factor in accounting for differences in survival.
