note
-
By family planning programs, we mean efforts to provide information about contraception, as well as contraceptives themselves. Such programs do not generally include abortion, and consensus statements produced by the UN explicitly exclude abortion as a method of family planning. However, in some countries where abortion is legal, it is offered alongside contraceptive information and services.
