R. B. Parker (ed.), Ben Jonson, Volpone or. The Fox (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 1983), 8-10. Holdsworth suggested that, just possibly, Volpone may have been influenced by The Revenger's Tragedy, rather than vice versa, as has always been assumed. This seems to me unlikely, but, in any case, whatever the direction of the influence it must have been exerted soon after the earlier of the two plays was first performed.

Another metrical index for Shakespeare's plays
-
Metrical evidence not known to the authors of the Textual Companion associates All's Well with King Lear (1605-6) and Macbeth (1606), as do all the most significant metrical indices: MacD. P. Jackson, 'Another Metrical Index for Shakespeare's Plays', Neuphilologische Mitteilungen, xcv (1994), 453-8.
